Some little things that may be of interest to you as a visitor to this area of South Africa:

  • Bathrooms are not in every place you go to like in the US & other countries.  Many places have "shared" bathrooms, like in a shopping mall-one bathroom for many different establishments.  Gas stations do have bathrooms, not the cleanest, but at least they are there!
  • Shopping:  Just about everything you need can be found in The Market Square located right off the N2 and Beacon Way in the heart of Plett.  You can find grocery stores, ATMs, liquor store, pharmacy, sports shop, surf shop, clothing stores and more.  There is also a gas station on the corner so everything you need is there.
  • Medical:  There is a MediClinic with a 24 hour Emergency Room off the N2, Marine Way, Muller Street.

In South Africa there are 11 official languages. In the Plett area the main 2 languages you will hear are Afrikaans and English.  Although you may think "great, everybody speaks English", it still can be difficult.  Why? Because have you ever heard English in an Afrikaans, Xhoza or Zulu accent?  This is another way that we can help!  Let us figure out all the logisitics and make your trip here a stress free one.  Enjoy!

Miscellaneous Information

  • Notify your Credit Card company of your travel
  • Find out about Foreign Exchange fees-it may be better to take cash out of ATMs vs. paying with your Credit Card. Also check the fees for the ATM/Cash Withdrawls with your bank.

The top two International Airports that most people fly into to get into South Africa:

  • OR Tambo International, Johannesberg (Airport code = ORT)
  • Cape Town International, Cape Town (Airport code = CPT)

Please note that Johannesberg is about a 12 hour drive (not recommended) and Cape Town about 6 hours so we suggest you fly into one of the local Domestic Airports:

  • George Airport (GRJ) located 1.5 hours drive to Plett
  • Plettenberg Bay Airport (PBZ), 5 minutes to town
